Drywall Repairs & Painting in Edgemont, Calgary

A recent client in Edgemont asked us to repair several drywall cut-outs in their home. The walls had been opened by a plumbing contractor to access inside the wall space, and the client wanted the repairs completed seamlessly with a professional paint finish.

Living Room Repairs

The main living room wall had an 18-foot high section with several pilot holes and a large drywall cut-out. Our process included:

  1. Countersinking smaller holes and filling them with quick-set mud

  2. Installing a support board inside the cut-out to hold a ½" drywall patch

  3. Cutting and securing a new drywall piece with screws

  4. Applying fiber tape and a coat of quick-set compound

  5. Applying three additional coats of drywall compound, sanding smooth

  6. Spot priming and lightly sanding the patches

  7. Painting the entire wall with Benjamin Moore BEN Eggshell paint

 Bedroom Closet Repairs

Two large drywall cut-outs in the bedroom closet were repaired using the same process as above. Because the old paint color was unavailable, we repainted the entire closet with two coats of Benjamin Moore BEN Eggshell, matching the living room’s color.

Bathroom Vanity Repairs (under sink)

Inside the bathroom vanity, a couple of  cut-outs were repaired. The interior was repainted with the same eggshell color as the Living Room for a consistent look.

Our Paint Matching Process

For this job, the client had an older can of Benjamin Moore BEN paint, but the formulation had changed. We took the paint can to the store and had it matched. We offer a professional paint matching service: if no old paint is available, we cut a piece of the drywall (top layer) and take it to the paint store to match the color 95% of the original. By painting the entire wall, bathroom vanity, and closet, this ensures a better finish than simple “touch-ups.”

Conclusion

The management company and homeowner were very pleased with the results. Repairs like these require repainting the entire wall or area — they are not simple touch-ups — and our process ensures a professional, consistent finish every time.
